Ergonomics is the science of studying how people interact with their working environments. Specialists in this field often make recommendations which are designed to improve safety and productivity in work environments.
Slips, Trips & Falls Prevention
The Ergonomics programs are intended for workers and managers in production agriculture. Participants will be able to identify hazards in the work area to include housekeeping policies, PPE, hazard identification, and fall prevention. They can be designed to be audience specific.
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will:
Be able to identify hazards in the work area
Be able to identify actions that can be integrated to prevent slips, trips, and falls
Have the opportunity to begin an action plan to diminish or eliminate workplace hazards that could result in injury
Know where to find resources to help in eliminating fall hazards
Know the resources to find the OSHA standards pertaining to slip, trip, and fall incidents
Prevention of Farm Related Injuries Associated with Lifting, Twisting & Turning
The intended audience for this program includes workers, managers, and business owners in all aspects of production agriculture. Musculoskeletal injuries are costly both in treatment and lost time expenses.
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to
Identify work site issues that may result in disabling musculoskeletal injuries
Understand the role of workplace wellness programs in preventing disabling and lost time incidents
Discuss ergonomic risk factors affecting various agricultural workforce populations
Identify opportunities for structural/physical changes in the workplace environment
