Presenter: Charlotte Halverson, RN, BSN, COHN-S, Clinical Director, AgriSafe Network Description The goal of the training is to inform agricultural producers and employers of agricultural workers about agricultural respiratory exposures and diseases that are common in the agricultural environment. The course will cover a general overview of respiratory hazards associated with agricultural exposure with an emphasis on grain handling operations. Participants will be able to recognize the importance of agricultural occupational health risks and prevention of respiratory disease. “Lungs for Life” agricultural respiratory resources will be discussed and case studies presented to describe the use of prevention strategies to reduce respiratory exposures and reduce lung disease associated with agricultural respiratory exposures. This will include discussion of appropriate use of respirators in the agricultural setting with an emphasis on grain handling with practical applications that focuses on the unique challenges of finding appropriate respiratory protection.
