Summary: 
This webinar will focus on the major agricultural chemicals that have been associated with toxic health effects in agricultural families. Exposure pathways will be described along with measures to reduce exposure, using examples from research programs. Major health effects according to chemical type will be discussed, along with emerging development of biomarkers of pre-clinical health effects. Prevention will be stressed including ways that individual workers can protect themselves and their families. Health policy considerations will be discussed along with a focus on vulnerable populations. Implications for nursing interventions will be emphasized. 

At the end of the webinar participants will be able to: 
1. Identify major types of pesticides used in agriculture in the U.S. 
2. Discuss exposure pathways and interventions to prevent exposure in susceptible populations. 
3. Identify biomarkers used to identify exposure and health effects in agricultural research 
4. Discuss the nurses role in pesticide safety education with emphasis on the protection of vulnerable populations.
